I Love The Whole World

I came across this video in howstuffworks.com while looking for an explanation for transistors. Quite a gem, don’t you think? Boom de ya da!

What We’re Feeding to Our Children

“Bakit ba ang hihilig nating kabataan sa mga kuwento nila Batman at Voltes V, na gawa naman ng mga banyaga? Mahalin naman natin ang sariling atin, sina Darna, Lastikman at Captain Barbell!”

-A Quote from Some Reproduced Essay, from Some Random Grade School Textbook Whose Name I Cannot Be Bothered to Even Try to Remember (Though I Can Guarantee That It’s Reproduced Here Relatively Accurately)

I apologize for the somewhat vague and extremely lengthy quote source. See, that bit of brilliant child-propaganda has been stuck in my head since I first read it in bad old Xavier Grade School way back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth.

Every time I think of that 32-word sack of shit, I get pissed off. Severely.

On Beauty Pageants

I think beauty pageants should change.

Some of you may know that I generally do not watch TV. When I do, it’s usually when I pass by the living room while either one or both of my parents are watching. It just so happened that they were watching the Miss Universe beauty pageant the other day. It unsettled me.

The day after, while listening to the radio over breakfast wherein Chico and Delamar talked about Miss Universe, I decided that I didn’t like how pageants went about. Continue reading

Updates on the Redesign

I think I’m getting closer to how I originally intended the blogposts to appear (grouped by date). My more recent programming experience with flex coupled with my inability to manage my time (i.e. forgetting about everything else, and simply focusing on coding) has granted me a few insights and a deeper understanding of php. Long story short: the stuff that I wanted to do but couldn’t before due to lack of knowledge, I can do now.

This is far from over though. Very far from over. Of note is the comments section which, while still functional, is still visually atrocious. As I have mentioned in my earlier announcement, strange things are going to keep happening to this blog, but sooner or later I’m going to get everything back under control again.

Introducing A New Author

I’d like to introduce you guys to Kenneth. He’s a very good friend of mine, and one of the sharpest minds I know. I’m sure he’ll quickly become a favorite as he’s a brilliant writer (far better than I am, to my chagrin) and he has a fiery temper to boot. For those of you who miss my old ranting, you might be able to get your fix on Kenny’s posts. ;)

I see he has already posted his own test post before my introduction. That’s the spirit, Kenny! Cheers.

Redesigning. Again.

As the title suggests, I’m redesigning Onymous again. I’ve been feeling that the design is too heavy-handed and too… noisy. So I’ll try to go for a lighter and cleaner design.

If you see strange things happen in this blog, it’s probably me hitting a css/html/php tripwire.

Ogenki?

In my twenty-three years of living in the Philippines, almost everyone who was ever nice to me either wanted to sell me something, or say ‘Ohayo gozaimasu! Ogenki?’

Yuko, my mother.

On people in the gym trying to speak Japanese to her.
